Update/Remove driver

Following information is needed only for applications protected with driver. Remember – not all programs are protected with driver. A developer or a publisher of a program decides whether it is necessary to apply protection drivers for the application, depending on the required protection level.

? How do I know whether my program uses protection driver?
If the message about driver installation was displayed at the first launch of protected program then the driver is used.
Protection driver update does not affect the whole protection version installed on the program.

How to update protection drivers?

With so many various hardware components and software for personal computers, the StarForce specialists improve protection drivers constantly and make them compatible with newly released programs and operating systems.

There are to ways to update driver, which depend on current version of protection, that is placed in software.

? How do I know which protection version is installed for the application I use?

1. Version 5.5 and higher:

In version 5.5 and higher the most common operations (such as check and download of driver update, install/remove driver) are performed using Graphical User Interface (GUI) of PROTECT.EXE file. This file is situated in root folder of protected application.

Driver management commands

Check driver status – check presence of protection driver for current application.
Download and install driver update – connects with StarForce update server, downloads and installs driver update for current application.
Install driver – installs protection driver for current application.
Remove driver if it is not used by other installed application – removes protection driver if it not used by other installed application.
Remove driver completely – removes driver even if it uses by other installed applications.

License management commands

Activate, reactivate or deactivate application – For applications with Internet activation ability and software which use StarForce DiscFree Technology.

Miscellaneous commands

Register event log – This command allows to register protected application in system Events Log for launch of application in special modes (e.g. in mode of Windows service).

How to update protection drivers?

Download the zip-archive of the SFUPDATE utility.
Unpack the archive and save the sfdrvup.exe file to some folder on a hard disk.
Run sfdrvup.exe.
Follow the displayed instructions

How to remove all the protection components from the system?

To remove all protection components:

Download the zip-archive of the SFREMOVE utility.
Unpack the archive and save the sfdrvrem.exe file to some folder on a hard disk.
Run sfdrvrem.exe.
