Document protection process and working with the protected documents for an end user.
File protection is currently performed by the StarForce technical support. In the future it is supposed to launch a web resource where a client can protect his documents himself without the participation of SF specialists.
It is possible to set rules and user’s own operation logic for the protected files, where the rules and logic are specified by the Serial Numbers, generated by the client on the StarForce License management site.
After protection of files and generation of Serial Numbers for each file, the files can be distributed with guarantee that only persons whom the client has granted the rights to view a document can open it.
The opening of the protected documents by an end user differs from the opening of unprotected documents in two additional actions only – viewer installation and a Serial Number input.
This is performed as follows:
* - there are 2 ways to distribute the viewer:
1. to send the viewer enclosed to a message or on a media, along with the protected files
2. provide hyperlink for an end user to download necessary viewer.
** - Viewer installation and a Serial Number input are necessary once only when a document is being opened for the first time. The Viewer allows opening any files of the supported format (SFPDF or SFDOC). If the Viewer was installed on an end user抯 computer, no viewer installation is required next time the protected files of the same format are being opened.
