StarForce: protection is tried to be falsified

StarForce Technologies warns: all companies wishing to protect software have to contact certified partners stated at the site or to the company’s sales managers directly. Due to its partners the company was informed about publication of a batch of CDs as if they were protected by StarForce.

Today not only software publishers but protection systems’ developers can suffer from pirates and thefts. So StarForce brand was used illegally by unfair company that pretended to be software protection developer’s partner. This company represented characteristics similar to protection system files in alien files. The StarForce company’s name Protection Technology is used as a copyright, and non-existent number is stated as the protection version. It is significant that the company’s developers have not found any data and sections belonging to StarForce’s protection.

“When we received an announcement that a batch of discs as if they were protected by StarForce had been found in one of CIS countries we made an internal investigation. Besides we found out that the product was protected neither specialists of our many office nor our partners”, - Julia Titova, Head of Russia and CIS sales department of StarForce Technologies says.

Several discs were sent to the company’s laboratory immediately. During the experiment it was found out that “protection” files at the discs had nothing in common with the set of files generated but StarForce protection system. “After receiving discs all doubts were settled: files did not belong to StarForce system. Our brand was used illegally, and discs were not protected in reality. This case demonstrates with an example that all companies willing to integrate StarForce protection into their products should connect only those partners that are mentioned at our corporate site or StarForce Technologies company directly so that do not suffer from deliberate criminals”, - Julia Titova adds.
